It is wild that Charlie Kirk of all things is becoming *the* litmus test. Even just talking about the event publicly without a sufficient supply of sackcloth and ashes is cast as "promoting political violence." I haven't seen this kind of mandatory performance of allegiance and piety since 9/11.

One thing Charlie Kirk's assassination has revealed is the extent to which the elite liberal media class has abandoned reality for a post-truth politics previously embraced by the right.

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

Absolutely no proof of anything out there right now, no actual suspect, no motives, a history of the Right attacking and trying to kill one another, and I'm just swimming in accounts and conversations and threads calling for mass violence and state attacks on the Left.

I HATE when people compare AI to the printing press, it's so disingenuous. The printing press was opposed by the elites because it put power in the hands of everyday people, and popularized a vernacular. AI does the opposite, by allowing elites to bypass artists and laborers.

Many centrist pundits have never experienced the business end of conservative policy but have experienced the left being mean to them for the stupid things they say and so they assume from their "elevated rational" position that they're each just as bad.

Investors are crazy about AI because if you interact with chatgpt and you do not really understand how llms work, it feels like they've made a thinking computer. But they haven't. They have made a computer that can output extremely plausible speech, which is not the same thing.

The big problem with the politics of "just do what polls say is already popular" is that most people don't have strongly-held opinions about most issues. When pollsters ask, they answer. But they're often taking elite cues, not expressing deep passions. Leaders can lead people to different stances.
