Update: it finally hit 77F inside. I heard my husband in the hallway, complaining that it hadn't turned on. I went out & pushed the button that actually turns it on because I was paying attention during installation. We are now feeling cool air & he is excitedly checking the solar panel output.

Today is the first hot day since we installed the new heat pump. Every 30 minutes or so I hear my husband come upstairs to check the thermostat, and then sigh heavily because it’s not yet hot enough inside to run it.

We're replacing our furnace with a heat pump this week, which will leave our stovetop as the last gas appliance. If we replace it with induction, we get a big rebate. But my worry is that if we do so, we'll have no safe way to roast marshmallows inside while giving ourselves brain damage.
