For me, I had underestimated how I internalised then replicated harmful racism against people of colour in my life. I was so defensive of my need to be seen as good. So defensive that I was willing to lie to myself and others, to make other people out to be the disrupters.

Placing the spine issues in focus has made me realise how much medical trauma I experienced in an NHS general hospital ward in 2018 due to my mental health. I've done lived experience work yet realised that, nor 1.5 years of counselling (just finished), touched on it. It was horrific

When I trained facilitators, I used to have them role play answering a question this way, even if they did knew the answer to the question. It's amazing how society conditions us to bullshit over admitting a knowledge gap.

I had my spinal MRI on Monday. Yesterday evening I was told because doctors had left the issue for so long my back and nerves are damaged, I need an operation, and I will lose what I have left of my independence. I begged the consultant last October for MRI, but was told it was mental ill health.

I have a spinal MRI today. I'm so used to talking about myself, and quite frankly almost selling my experiences of health and social care off to anyone who paid that it's become almost meaningless. But today scares me, the increasing pain, falls, numbness, general messed up bodyness.
