More from today's initial light rail vehicle roll down the Southwest LRT route. Construction began in 2018 and Metro Transit says passengers will ride in 2027. Over the Kenilworth Channel, leaving W Lake St Station, arriving at W 21st St Station, exiting the Kenilworth tunnel.

High-income neighborhoods think that low-income people moving in will lower property values. Low-income neighborhoods think that high-income people moving in will raise rents. We have a class segregation consensus.

Carver County, in conjunction with the Met Council, will expand Transit Link service to operate on weekends starting 9/6. Looks like one will now be able to go to Baylor for their star parties, camp overnight, and come back the next day.

Hennepin County’s proposed layout for Lyndale Avenue S. falls short. It’s not a people-first design. It’s a decorated, street-level parking lot, dusted with the occasional confetti of mode shift virtue signals. No protected bikeways, 24/7 bus lanes, or green space throughout the entire corridor.

The Lyndale Ave public right of way is so massive. I went into this process thinking obviously everyone will be accommodated. But no, for some reason they want to mash bikes and pedestrians together. Make 'em fight.

Yesterday, in his 2026 budget proposal, Mayor Frey called for a 7.8% levy increase, raising $39 million to avoid layoffs or major spending cuts. As a member of the Board of Estimate and Taxation, my job would be to block or approve this tax increase. So, what do I think? 🧵

The final concept design for Lyndale Ave is out and friends, it's really bad. They have a SHARED USE PATH on the east side of the street. You don't put shared use paths in busy commercial areas, especially when this is in one of the densest neighborhoods in the entire state!

I've said it once and I'll say it again: we need to get past the concept that we can only make radical changes to street design during these once-a-century complete rebuilds. "Fiscal responsibility" be damned, the alternatives are all more expensive in the long run

I *really* don’t want to overstate the power or representativeness of the Minneapolis DFL mayoral process (my view here:

What's this? A clear-headed analysis of the convention from a candidate? One that honors the results, the work of the candidate who won, AND the work of the delegates. One that moves us forward into the work of doorknocking and campaigning? Here for it, & I am here for

Even still, we will not be challenging the results. While it’s true there were clear problems with the balloting process, it’s also true that delegates were informed about the problems during the convention and decided through democratic processes to proceed with a second ballot.

Ok. I am disappointed in how our city prioritizes public transit. I want that to change. Moving buses off of Nicollet Mall, dismissing dedicated bus lanes--it makes me angry. So. Let's talk transit, riders, and what is next. Note--this is gonna be Minneapolis heavy, but all are welcome :)
