Doing this is making me think of the design differences between Linux and other OSes. For example, glibc is kind of the Achille's heel of a standard Linux setup, acting as both the kernel client and a language run-time. On Windows, ntdll does the former and the CRT sits two layers above that.

Stupid project in progress: building a fully-functional Linux userspace, completely from source tarballs. No package manager. Compiling a kernel, that's been done ad nauseam. Getting it to a fully-functional operating system is a different challenge entirely. My poor laptop is running warm lol.
