We need better language about AI. We can’t use the same term for the process that detects cancer as the process that make your photo look like a Ghibli. If we restrict the program that’s designed to specifically steal IP it doesn’t mean all the other applications cease to exist.

The thing is we’re not even talking about “the AI industry”. I’m sure the AI used for medicine, chemistry, engineering, logistics etc can get on fine without people’s novels, music, photos, and illustrations. They want that stuff for the very specific purpose of doing creatives out of their jobs.

For goodness sake how are they not getting this. Artists can’t just steal each other’s ideas, so why should non-artists be allowed to. This is maddening.
