One thing that people don't get about these DNA "services" is that you're not just sending your DNA, you're sending basically your entire family's. You have a genetic predisposition to a disease? So do your entire family and none of them have consented to having it in a database.

What I understand from contacts is that the strategy now is to try to buy Chinese or Indian assets on the cheap and do any necessary development in Asia. Basically this is the death of the US pharma start-up infrastructure. Start-ups are being acquired or folding altogether with no funding.

One thing people don’t realize is that even if you don’t use Medicaid—even if you never would use Medicaid—your ability to access care, and your ability to access healthcare providers like me, will be affected in some way or another by every cut or barrier to Medicaid. Nobody will be unaffected.
