In 2011, everyone on the internet laughed at a little song called "Friday." But now, in 2026, more people than ever are laughing at a gore-soaked pit in the center of an arena built of jagged green stone beneath a dim star where, if there are days of the week, they are named after gods wholly alien.

What if living in a burning world ruled by pedophiles on golden thrones is radicalising even if you're not a Marxist or a libertarian lone wolf? What if it's just enraging to live in this world? Across the population of millions, why wouldn't you expect increasing numbers of people to say "fuck it"?

I survived! Boo hoo, hear my sob story of my trauma. I was attending this big fascist fancy party that everyone told me not to & gave me major side-eye for. Then somebody shot at the fascist! It was horrible. I will have nightmares & flashbacks my whole life. We must address this as a society.

Even if you're utterly convinced that you are in the demographic that the institutions of state violence have no interest in, there is a margin of error with everything, and they *do not care if they get some calls wrong*. If you give them power and impunity it applies to you, too.

There is a direct throughline from this and the rise in global authoritarianism. Authoritarianism is actively hostile toward the arts and intellectualism, and thus imagination. When people say that AI is a âfascist project,â this is explicitly what theyâre referring to.

Fascists cant be shamed. They arent committed to rules & institutions. When they overturn them there is no cognitive dissonance. A political strategy aimed at calling them out wont stop them, because the problem is not that they're inconsistent.

Anytime a Sam Altman or an Elon or a Thiel talks about a "difficult economic transition", what they mean is their plan will kill millions of people to make them incrementally richer, but they'll do it via "economics" so it can never be their fault and you're not allowed to yell at them.
