The sad reality (that the MAGA movement wants you to forget) is that if only one party gerrymanders, then that party can gain a permanent (minority) government. Thus, until EVERY state agrees to cease gerrymandering, no state can safely unilaterally disarm. We need a Constitutional Amendment.

Two things can be true: Congress should pass uniform, national legislation reining in partisan gerrymandering; and Until that happens, or every state adopts an independent redistricting commission, neither party is going to (or, frankly, should) unilaterally disarm.
