i never think a sprout should be told it’s bad, and i especially don’t think they should ever skip it. at most, just a preface that it might be a little slow at times but it’s making sure you understand the world and where it’s at. in my experience, they mostly go “that was great!” my two cents.

you can’t functionally understand, analyze, and appreciate the rest of the game/further creative work in the world without that context. stories are built upon each other and in the context of history. so if people have opinions on quality, that’s fine. but it tends to miss the point

ice cold take. arr is like any of your required reading in high school, like frankenstein, or shakespeare’s works. it has aged some, some parts are slow, and your mileage may vary on whether it sucked, was just fine, or life-changingly amazing. but it’s foundational. objectively.
