To put this loan amount in perspective: California is spending $500 million to widen a 10-mile stretch of Highway 37 in the northern Bay Area (through a wetland, no less). But $750 million to save the *entire* Bay Area’s transit systems is apparently infeasible.

Every year, Portland Streetcar staff invite Portland Fire and Rescue firefighters to participate in a training to learn more about the Streetcar system. In mid-August, firefighters met at the Portland Streetcar maintenance yard in NW Portland to get hands-on experience.

This week, I voted to oppose the -18 Amendment to HB 3991 in the Joint Special Session Committee on Transportation Funding. I vow as a legislator to continue to fight for long term stable funding for this critical social service that serves the 1 in 4 Oregonians who can't or don't drive. #orleg

One piece of testimony that stood out to me was from someone with Basin Transit Service’s “Veterans on the Go” program in Klamath County. The program helps veterans access fixed route and pickup/drop-off services, including with weekly trips to the VA hospital in Medford.

Portland is facing dire transit service cuts and we're being told our 30 year old indoor sports arena is out of date and taxpayers must fix it. Transit uses obsolete infrastructure every day. It would be nice to update the rail system so it can run at normal speeds on hot days, for example.
