I had dozens of follows overnight. I’ve followed about a third of you back, and will keep at it until I get everyone. I notice that a lot of you are veterans and ardent Democrats. I want you to know some things about me before you commit:

Of course you still have to pay to show your support for the war. No way to register your answer without a credit card.

Jesse Jackson sexually harassed my friend, who passed a few years ago. That’s not only who he was. I voted for him and think he really understood the systemic change needed in this country. But my friend kept saying “no,” and he refused to respect her integrity.

As I’ve watched Minnesotans interacting with ICE personnel, I have wondered whether Mennonites involved in the protests curse less. Probably the same goes for other church based protesters. I am not asking with a sense of judgment at all, just curiosity.

The media keeps speaking about the “unsubstantiated allegations“ that a woman made against Trump regarding his rape of her when she was a teenager. That term is redundant. An allegation is by definition not proven. By adding the word “unsubstantiated“ they are appeasing the Trump administration.

the fictional representation of the Roman Republic as like, a democracy that was destroyed by corrupt politicians and not like, warlords like maximus (who would save it actually by killing all the politicians) is basically a thinly veiled chud fairy tale about america, even if it wasn't intended

Depraved stories from last Friday’s ruling striking down DHS’s detentions of lawfully admitted & vetted refugees in MN. In Jan 2026, ICE scrapped 45-yrs of practice & started detaining every refugee in MN (5,600) on 1st anniversary of entry, ostensibly to make sure they weren’t terrorists ... 1/4

Instructions for commenting on the proposed rule by the DOJ are in the comments. I said that if they didn't want the states investigating DOJ attorneys for corruption, they should stop hiring corrupt DOJ attorneys.

A reminder: when the media mentions "Crown Prince" Pahlavi, remember that his father Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi ran a torture state to suppress dissent. It is estimated by the mid-1970s Iran had between 25,000-100,000 political prisoners.

a lot of people are explicitly fighting Trump so they don’t have to fight fascism Because it means that they have to change fundamentally And changing means admitting they’re wrong. And they would rather someone else die than confront what that means about themselves

The Bogota hotel we are staying at is weird. $35 a night for a small dorm sized room, but it has an elegant lobby and restaurant with US hotel restaurant prices and a $25 breakfast buffet. It also has hot water, which for us is the most important thing.

Mennonites, it seems to me, have some very liberal urban congregations and some extremely conservative rural ones. Almost like they were different churches altogether. My own Anabaptist relatives seem to have gone over to the standard modern American evangelical model.
