A rare example of a quality full redesign of a street in Italy. Via Amedei, Mantova. First pic, how it was, i.e. the typical oversized street of postwar peripheries. Other 3 pics: how it's now, turned one-way, depaved and traffic-calmed.

Should probably be more talk in commentary about the LibDems, quietly holding on to the places taken from the Conservatives over the last 4 years and as a result potentially at a GE stopping a Reform/Con coalition being possible.

The next few weeks will see hundreds of newly-elected Reform councillors panicking when they realise their council isn't spending millions on DEI, and managing local authority finances is actually quite hard.

Wow, I can't believe Labour's tactic of yelling "DON'T VOTE FOR THESE GREEN CUNTS, THEY'RE DANGEROUS, VOTE FOR US, WE HATE IMMIGRANTS IN A BETTER WAY THAN REFORM!" hasn't led to them keeping all their council seats.

WATCH this video to understand better why positive and badly needed change in cities can be so HARD AND CONTROVERSIAL, at least INITIALLY when proposed (spoiler — quite often that change becomes popular, or just not noticed much at all, after implementation and once the “status quo bias” wears off."

Banning children from social media is like building car-centric cities and then forcing children to take traffic safety classes. We need social media platforms and spaces designed safe for children, not adults who create shit and then try to regulate the children.

This is really important. The main thing that makes it hard to achieve integrated nature and green in cities isn’t density of buildings or density of people — it's density of cars. And the more well-designed and integrated density of people & buildings you achieve, the fewer cars you need or want.

Every single time I submit a report about a dangerous street or intersection, the engineer tells me it can't be fixed because that would impact traffic flow or parking. The City Council recently declared safety as transportation's highest priority, but the engineers still prioritize traffic flow.
