This is a real, actionable suggestion for solving a problem everyone hates — law students, law firms, and law schools.

There is also the trend of big firms paying 2L summers to find a public interest jobs for 1L summer, which reduces availability of those positions who want long-term public interest careers.

This was already a problem with law firm hiring moving faster than public interest hiring, and the expedited timeline makes it much worse.

FWIW what I’m seeing with my students is that timeline makes it harder for students who are considering alternatives to biglaw too. That firms move so early heightens employment anxiety for everyone and makes students think: I’d better get on this train now so I have something/ I can get off later
