Some advice from a couple of years ago that I still think most creative people need to hear --

Low key, this is why I think you should send fan mail to the niche people you love and not huge people. Bts is gonna get thousands of letters, but that soundcloud rapper may go there entire career getting nothing. Tell your niche favs you love them in a way that is not weird!!

I don’t think ppl understand the whole “who cares if nobody likes it! make content for yourself” is extremely dismissive Bc we ARE making the content for ourselves but it feels /bad/ when people don’t engage or show interest. You can care about both at the same time

I have said for decades that frustration is a good thing. it's not even really something I see as something to 'tolerate' though I recognize that's a matter of perspective, but rather frustration is the symptom of you having standards and recognizing you want to close that gap between you and it
