Splatoon Raiders: more thoughts in print in a few weeks' time, but it might just be my favourite Switch 2 exclusive to date. A thrillingly chaotic, endearingly thrifty adventure with some of the best homebrew videogame weapons in years. Up there with Octo Expansion as peak singleplayer Splatoon.

I'm sad to say that I'm no longer working with the team at Rascal. It's been a great couple of years, but circumstances have dictated that it's time for me to move on. That does mean that I'm now (quite desperately) looking for freelance work, so if you need words for/about games, my DMs are open.

Just had an email telling me Smile 2 is on Netflix. It is deeply flawed but boasts an amazing performance from Naomi Scott, who either believes in this thing with her whole heart or recognises it could be her big ticket to stardom. Either way: a real swing-for-the-fences turn you should check out.

Anger about the state of the industry is perfectly understandable, but idly speculating about who might be next is unhelpful and unnecessary.

If a team makes a game that gets great reviews and doesn't sell, that's a biz failing but the silver lining is you caught lighting in a bottle -- protect that team! It's worth its weight in gold. If you jettison the team but keep the biz people, I don't know what to tell you
