I agree with Miles. Muni Metro is just a bad system, its worse than the bus. Its proof the new vehicles with the slow doors make a slow system even slower. The only good-ish part is the subway portions which should be fully separated from the streetcars, anyways.

You will either need to wait for your existing Clipper card to be upgraded to 2.0, or pay using a CC/tap-to-pay on your phone (note: not a digital a Clipper card; see first point) The transition could be less confusing, but this will be HUGE when it happens

SF has the same problem: a fire department obsessed with the risk they've largely solved (fire) and unwilling to consider safer streets at the same priority. Vision Zero isn't even mentioned in the SFFD capital plan. Hard to buy equipment fit to use when you're not considering the use.

Almost half the Waymos on California streets are driving around empty. They're either waiting for the next customer or en route for a pickup. If robotaxis scale, anything close to that level of deadheading would create crushing gridlock.

Call to action (erm, ๐จemail to action): Mayor Lurie needs to hear your desire for a robust and fully funded Muni _this week_. Background follows. Next November, with a little luck, there will be two measures on your ballot to fund transit. Both have to pass for Muni to not cut up to 50% of service.

Bottom line: even if you don't believe in climate change, don't care about people who can't afford cars, and will never personally take the bus, *you benefit* from your federal tax dollars going to transit. We figured this out during the flipping Reagan administration, and it is wild to deny it now.

Since the Mayor decided to allow Waymo, Lyft, and Uber to drive on Market Street, we've seen an increase in all kinds of private vehicles. This has slowed Muni and made the corridor less safe for people walking, rolling, and biking.

Regular reminder that we install signal poles and light posts with breakaway bolts *with the explicit purpose* of allowing cars to cleanly drive through them. This results in the regular wiping of pedestrian off sidewalks, who might imagine that they are protected by nearby infrastructure.
