Had such a great time this afternoon doing outreach for Yes on C to fund a new El Cerrito library with former Mayor Greg Lyman. We met so many supporters walking and biking on the Greenway, and tons of drivers honked. We also talked with several undecided voters, convincing many folks to vote yes.

Exciting to see the progress on construction outside the El Cerrito pool/community center. The entrance is being made much more accessible and EV chargers have been added to the parking lot. The chargers at City Hall are constantly in use, so there’s clearly demand for more public chargers.

Every Californian who cares even a little bit about their city’s financial health should read this thread. Take two minutes to thoroughly read it and then share it. If this measure goes to the ballot and passes it would destroy El Cerrito’s budget and those so many other California cities.

Trans people are not “fighting for unpopular positions that society isn’t ready for.” Trans people are fighting to KEEP the rights we have enjoyed for decades. We have been able to legally change our gender markers since the 70s and before. Same with bathrooms, sports, youth, all for decades.

The only two Xavier Becerra signs I’ve seen in El Cerrito have been next to signs opposing our library measure. So if you’re anti-library and anti-taxes for social good, I guess Becerra is your candidate.

I’d love to see more 10 car trains on the Red line, but at the minimum, @bart.gov could you please stop running 6 car trains during commute hours? It’s been crowded lately! Add more cars, and let’s fill those up too as more and more folks look to decrease their gas spending.

I feel so much urgency to pass Measure C. Without it we’ll be stuck with our tiny old library for a decade+. Earlier this month we let you know that California's AB 1942 e-bike licenses bill was passed by the Assembly Transportation Committee, but would have a hard time making it past the Appropriations Committee which determines how much a bill will cost the state and where the money will come from.

Visited the Orinda Library today, and it reminded what El Cerrito can create if we pass Measure C in June. They have a large public plaza with a cafe, tons of books, designated areas for teens, children, and a quiet area. Plus window seats and a study room. Let’s build a library just as wonderful!

Housing seems to be not a priority at all for Becerra. Just two weeks ago at the Cal Cities Summit he didn't even know why 40k shovel ready affordable housing units in CA are delayed. He said there are probably a lot of reasons. Now this new platform correctly states it's due to lack of funding.

In Europe, where they've slowed cars and invested in safe bike infrastructure, e-bike trips increased by 72 percent in 2025 and injuries per million trips fell by 18 percent. The safety problem is not e-bikes. The problem is US roads are unsafe for everyone, particularly people walking and biking.

it is incredible to see folks complain that good people don't run for office, that lawmaking is a hobby for the rich, that our state legislators are run by car dealership freaks, and then insist that we shouldn't pay lawmakers any more than we do.

Last night the El Cerrito City Council voted to end our Flock contract! Huge thanks to the hundreds of El Cerritans who organized to make this happen. They met with councilmembers multiple times, shared research, sent emails, circulated petitions and dozens spoke at our meeting that ended at 1 am.
