As a Christian, Easter reminds me that life is a gift, and weโre called to care for it. Right now, climate change is putting that gift at risk for people and nature around the world. That's why I see climate action as an act of love: for all our global neighbours and the home we share. ๐

2๏ธโฃ Insurance market reform. Thanks to climate catastrophes, many states have spent huge $$s bailing out failing insurance markets. We need to pass insurance policy that *insulates* state budgets from climate disaster market meltdowns.

๐ฏ this. States are facing significant budget problems. We need a new set of state policy goals that are grounded in the realities of state budgets. For example: 1๏ธโฃ Creating new state financing vehicles, like Illinois did last year on transportation. Polluter pays and cap-and-invest are others.

We don't really have legal and regulatory systems built around whether an industry is a good or bad use of resources. It is interesting to imagine that world. So I start with what we do have: clear jurisdiction and laws governing pollution, regardless of the economic purpose.

This is about 10% of California's power sectors emissions. Think about how hard it is to make a grid this size 10% cleaner. That is the amount of work a new fossil plant of this size cancels out. We cannot have new fossil infrastructure if we hope to have a safe climate. There just isn't time.

When I went to West Texas I was stunned by all of the brand new grid infrastructure in this very rural and low population area of the country. It takes a lot of energy to get oil and gas out of the ground and move it around. For example: this was outside a small town.

The reason internet lie-based April Fools "jokes" fail is bc nothing funny or good happens when/after a person falls for it. A person just ends up being wrong/disappointed. A good prank either plays on hubris, hoists a person by their petard, punches up, or else is like a surprise party.

Some things just shouldn't be mapped Not only because someone might use the map for nefarious purposes, but because in making a map you may also inadvertently define a new object, a new discourse that power didn't know existed before because you just created it in the map And that can be dangerous
