(Wrt the fish and chips v kebabs post) One of my go-to restaurants when I lived in Anaheim was a Vietnamese-owned H. Salt franchise that also had amazing biryani and (somehow still in the 2010s) Thrifty ice cream.

Alright music nerds here one for you. My partner remembers and album she used to listen to in the 2000s Key features - a bit like interpol - cover with a building with lights on, dark blue + dark grey - she thought it was Wilco (but that's probably just the album cover)

As a record collector in 1991, I thought it was my duty to curate Mick Jones covering Prince lest it be lost to time. Cucked by Youtube in 2025.

Some feelings are wrong, actually. If I feel afraid when I see a Black person on the street, that feeling is wrong. If I feel afraid when I see a Muslim person running for mayor, that feeling is wrong. If a cis person feels afraid when they see a trans person, that feeling is wrong.

wikipedia's data shows that AI is siphoning traffic away from the site, which is a danger to its sustainability. ironically Wikipedia is more important than ever to users who want reliable information instead of slop, and to AI companies that need it for training data

Since we can’t rely on the HHS, CDC, or FDA to say it, I will: MAKE SURE YOU ARE VACCINATED AGAINST MEASLES. GET YOUR MMR. Measles cases have reached their HIGHEST point since the disease WAS ELIMINATED from the United States in 2000. We are at the tipping point for the return of ENDEMIC measles.

I’ve not personally had a chance to get out from the city light pollution to try for comet sightings, but you should! I’ve heard it’s visible with binoculars/cameras now, may be naked-eye visible in dark skies this evening or within days (peak: 21 October)

The Bert Jansch Conundrum - In Concert (Athens, Ohio, 1980)

**_The Bert Jansch Conundrum - In Concert (Athens, Ohio, 1980)_** More Jansch! After Danny Thompson passed away a few weeks back, I had to go back to _Avocet_ , the wondrous instrumental LP Bert recorded with Thompson and multi-instrumentalist Martin Jenkins in the late 1970s. It still sounds so good. I also wanted to revisit this very sweet hour-long performance, taped in front of a live studio audience in Athens, OH, featuring Jansch, Jenkins and bassist Nigel Portman-Smith — AKA the Bert Jansch Conundrum. It comes and goes on ye olde YouTube, but it’s up in its entirety for now! The whole thing is a delight from start to finish with a bunch of great moments: a killer “Ask Your Daddy,” a lovely rendition of _Avocet_ ’s “Bittern,” and best of all, a unique “Running From Home” with Jansch and Jenkins singing in a cool round, circling each other beautifully. Jenkins is interesting to watch here — a real virtuoso on violin and electric mandocello. He even has a few solo spotlights, including a dazzling medley of jigs and reels that gets everyone in the crowd going. Martin deserves to be better known … maybe he should’ve been in bands with better names than Dando Shaft and Hedgehog Pie?! Oh well!
