Hey folks, we're here at tonight's meeting of the Shoreline City Council. Tonight's agenda: discussion of amendments to the 2025-'26 final biennial budget, and discussion of the 2025 Shoreline Police Service Report. Shoreline has budgeted $36.5M toward police, about 24.33% of the total budget.

We're live at Shoreline City Council! Two items of interest here tonight, but neither are "final action" items. First, the city will discuss an ordinance seeking to ban civil immigration enforcement from city property. Final approval would come on April 27.

One last thing: wanted to clarify that all three of Roberts's changes went through. Robertson's change struck the language of "working with community members and organizations," and that the city will still work on signage about being a welcoming community.

Change is possible: Seattle's Westlake Ave Trail before/after The super useful Westlake Trail was carved out of a publicly owned parking lot. It was absurdly controversial at the time, with the loudest opponents being a “super yacht” marina. Now it’s loved and no one wants to go back.

“No Kings” is great , but we really don't get a functioning democracy back until we internalize, bone deep, the instinctive response to this and every other statement like it: “I don’t care what that rich guy thinks.” Make it your morning affirmation. Say it ten times at the top of every hour.
