Im designing a tool that use AI to flag when someone is taking someone else out of context. Misquotes, uncharitable interpretations, inaccurate recontextualizations… maybe this should be a bluesky labeler…

People on this app get really angry every time I point out that social media manipulation is a real phenomenon that we are all stewing in and that’s having real world consequences and I’m sure part of that is engagement farmers who do that manipulation not liking people talking about it

Technology doesn’t have an underlying purpose. Tools aren’t a substitute for governance. They make it easier to do whatever the holder of the tool wants to do. I wish people spent more time creating and enforcing ways for AI to help people and how to create public access and ownership.

"AI" is a marketing term. So there's no ground truth on it's capabilities. Right now people feel comfortable calling LLMs that generate chat speech "intelligence". But researchers are adding "agentic capabilities" via data collection & new methods. So whatever is new & profitable will be called AI.
