pinned post!
I wrote a bit about IDEs, and about how lots of creative coding languages/IDEs assume the user doesn't want to code (which is essential to get people into programming! But I ask what happens next?) and some silly experiments I have been doing!

I am not being hyperbolic when I say (tech) capitalism is alienating (making strangers) of us at a staggering scale. Alienating us from ourselves, each other, touch, feeling, thoughtsâŠfrom the intimacy and care of touch, bedtime stories, prayers, poems, drawings, community, love

The more livecoding I do and the more livecoders I meet the more convinced I am that itâs a key part of the next golden era of public tech, like maybe the most important part? It contains in it all the good parts of âlearn to codeâ with precisely zero of the capitalist/grindset implications.

Anytime I see "it's not just a, ..." pattern in writing from a person I know, I immediately lower my opinion of them. When it's "it's not just x, not even y, ...", I assume they are a 100% idiot. (Or worse, spamming me and treating me like an idiot by direct copy/pasting unfiltered LLM output)

Itâs interesting to see the revival / mainstream spread of live coding / algorave go very popular on social media. On one hand itâs very cool to see, but on the other, the absolutely terrible incentive structure of social media means most posts are now just dressed up people typing off a script :/
