I think my issue with the AI water discourse is how dehumanized it all is--AI pushers do not want to talk about inequity, access, or the people impacted by the growing demands for data centers. Its NOT just an abstract discussion over numbers, and should not be framed like that.

to be clear, it is fine if you just want to dick around! that's what i mostly do on here. but the idea that "you're giving up the fight to influence people by not using X" is belied by the fact that effectively *no one* uses X. and i don't see any of the "use X!" people on tiktok or youtube.

i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.

What microblogging services you do or don't use doesn't really matter, and you should just use the ones that make it easy to get whatever you're trying to get out of posting and reading posts. That said, if you're going to not use one, you should not use it rather than screenshotting it all day.

It’s not that people in Arizona don’t care about golf courses, livestock, and farming. It’s that those water intensive industries are so well established that change is difficult. AI data centers aren’t. And it’s a reasonable argue that Arizona should not add yet another water intensive industry.
