Finished THE SECRET SKIN by @wnwagner.bsky.social from @neonhemlock.bsky.social and it hit all the right notes for me. I love when a story makes it clear the goals it aims to achieve thematically and hits each of them with creative clarity.

Just finished I WHO HAVE NEVER KNOWN MEN and I will need to take a second to digest it. There's a deep, deep despair in all the unanswered questions which feels a bit too real to wrap my head around right now.

SECRET LEVEL's interpretation of Pac-Man is actually pretty cool and nowhere I would ever expect someone to take that concept.

You should absolutely read this book. Just incredibly well-crafted at all sorts of different levels. Enjoy it as a classic fantasy heroic journey, savour the world-building, or dig deeper into the craft and reflect on the viewpoints and characters. Get me my next fix here, is what I’m saying!

Asunder by Kerstin Hall is a dark fantasy novel set in a wholly unique world, with two characters literally stuck together. I read it at the start of the year and I think about it constantly. 💙📚

One of the things I enjoyed most about studying Victorian lit in college was how these people would read each other for filth in the most roundabout ways. I'm 48 now and regret not keeping a diary because I'm alarmed at how much of my life I've utterly forgotten. I mentioned this to a writing workshop comprised mainly of older people I taught last year, and one woman said, "Start now. START NOW. I'm 77 and I WISH had started keeping a diary at 50."
