Good morning Womble-this weekend is hard. I'm taking hope from reading When There Are Wolves Again, by EJ Swift, a wonderful book that aligns well with my feelings about nature and the world. I've just nominated it for the Ursula Le Guin Prize. Please take hope wherever you may find it these days.

If Reform had won, Labour's statement would be that this result is a stark reminder we need to listen and learn from voters who rightly feel betrayed by modern politics. But the Greens won by a comfortable margin, so it's: these voters are stupid and also sinister and, ugh, Muslims

This is amazing. I'm trying to work out if the Tories have ever lost their deposit in England before - they've lost their deposits in elections in Wales and Scotland before, and routinely lose their deposits in Northern Ireland, but I can't find evidence of them ever losing one in England.

I've been to Ammanford. It's a big town - comparable to Aberdare - but it now has no banking facilities. I'm happy to sign this, because Aberdare is losing its last bank in June (leaving two building societies and the PO); Brecon is down to one bank, and that won't last. But at least it has a hub.
