I wonder how annoying/confusing it is for users of screen readers when a word has different pronunciations depending on its definition in context. Eg (based on SE UK accents) Separate rooms - seh-pruht / seh-puh-ruht Separate them - seh-per-rate That ruht vs rate can really change the meaning.

You know when you use a word so much it starts to look wrong and you question if you've got the meaning right? I'm feeling like that about "duty" today. It's not even in the manuscript that many times, but it is a key theme. I went to name the penultimate chapter "duty" and it looks/feels wrong. 😅

After Reborn in Ash, the next thing I want to publish is my Immortal Hearts series (which I’m tempted to rename). It’s set 200 years later and was actually written first. Mostly I want to get to book 3 and introduce Hellebore, a creature companion.

Does anyone else love it when multiple book series are set in the same universe? I love this about Robin Hobb’s Realm of the Elderlings, and I’m doing it with my planned books. My book world is Thellian, and my stories will span its history. Reborn in Ash is set towards the end of the 3rd era!

All my years of CBT that did little for my depression have prepared me for talking to my kids about dealing with big feelings. Ie we can choose which behaviour to respond to an emotion with (but I do acknowledge to them it takes practice). Basically I’m fed up with them always arguing at mealtimes😅

I’ve been feeling numb this week. If you can’t feel joy it makes it pretty hard to market a book😅 But I love Ada. She goes from a thief determined to be alone to a role model with a found family. She loses people, a pain she never wanted to feel again, but she learns to not shut herself away again.
