Very interesting thread and sub threads winding off this which tie in with some thoughts I’ve been having generally about constructive optimism about the future. The odd thing is that this negative attitude *should* be easy to combat with examples of what we are capable of when we choose change

Over the past week or two, I have had a couple of quite bruising encounters on BlueSky with British people who simply refused to accept that something that I said was possible in the UK is actually possible. I ended up blocking because. They were unreasonably protective of their helplessness.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 500: You're allowed to enjoy your job. You're entitled to be paid for doing it. The fact that you may enjoy it doesn't make it less of a real job than something you would enjoy less. And even if it isn't your primary source of income, if you write, you're a writer.
