Canadian politics, music, woodworking, gardening. You know, all the fun stuff.
After the blood tests and the interminable waiting that requires, I took Cookie for his walk. We saw the deer with her twin fawns and many frogs and dragonflies. Cookie tried to befriend every one of them.

I'd ask how Carney did at that press conference regarding Trump's recent tariffs, but I'm trying to minimize my association with the phrase "pathetic, pandering obsequiousness." That and "absolute fucking suck-up."

The Sasketchewan Premier is on CBC right now saying he expects Ottawa to ask provinces to end U.S. alcohol ban. If this happens, I think most Canadians will treat it like grocery shopping. They'll leave it on the shelf. I know I will. You can't force people to buy it.

It will be interesting to see what 'AI' does to quant social science work. Likely, a giant glut of mediocre studies jamming up a lot of the journals. But qualitative scholarship is unlikely to change much, because 'AI' can only do a cheap synthesis of pre-existing work.

Airbus is putting its data beyond America's reach. They will run on Scaleway, a French provider, instead. A US law lets American authorities request data held by US firms, including data stored in servers outside the country. Europe is slowly trying to lean less on American technology.
