Aside from the constitutional argument (which I'm inclined to agree with), Emmett makes the excellent point that governments want to enact age gates and then leave social media companies to otherwise continue their harmful patterns, when what we really need is legislation that protects *all* users.

This strikes me as right. The bill has many features of both the 'good' and 'bad' of the UK Online Safety Act, *plus* things like the blatantly unconstitutional under 16 ban.
