Do law ppl think there'd be a class action suit in all this? I am absolutely expected to use Canvas as part of my job and major parts of my work only run on the site (such as student evals). Given this context, can I really be said to have freely agreed to these terms?

I've been talking about both doctoral study (with academic jobs as the goal) AND tenure for YEARS in terms of RISK MANAGEMENT. It is a very calculated, and increasingly speculative, risk. You have to treat it that way. Faculty hate it when I do this. Especially about tenure.

Lots of discourse about TT jobs. Yes, the Ivy people like hiring Ivy people. Yes, certain fields are trendy. I have absolutely seen candidates—always white ones—receive allowances that others do not get. And by the campus visit the single most important criterion is “is this person an asshole?”

How do you format your academic #bibliographies? I used to use bibtex, then switched to a hexadecimal hash, so Goring et al. 2023 becomes #ae657f. This way each set of references can be rendered into a colour palette for easier recall and use. Here is the references section of my last paper:
