The minimum sound level for a ship horn at 1 meter distance for a ship >200m is 143dB. For a vessel less than 200m but larger than 75m it should be a minimum of 138dB. She didn't expect that... 😅

In the end, someone has to ask *why* people have been persuaded to be so terrified of immigration, when it has so many benefits and so few real downsides. Almost all of the claimed downsides are either lies or misinterpretations of statistics. Why would any sane country do this to itself?

The BBC gets a lot of stuff wrong, and I'm sick to death of copping flack for stuff that has fuck all to do with me, but there are really good legal reasons why a journalist would avoid using a word like "kidnapped" in describing this event in the course of their reporting.

It is a little known fact that they prerecord the Jools Holland Hootenanny - all the people on screen are faking it being New Year for tv. For eg, last year’s was prerecorded June 15th, 1535, during the Siege of Munster, look carefully and you can see John of Leiden mingling with the audience.
