Youth unemployment in Canada is on the rise and becoming a topic. The conservatives try to blame immigrant workers and the temporary foreign worker program. I believe this is a cyclical issue. Here is what I have to say yesterday:

The decisions of Lisa Cook (Fed) and of Dr. Monarez (CDC) to not just cave to the attempts to remove them is exactly what is needed. According to the NYT today, Robert Kennedy tried to fire Dr Monarez, but as a Senate confirmed appointee she will only go if the President personally instructed her.

One thing that I find interesting about this graph is that the revisions seem predictable. That is, it does not seem like each months is a mean zero draw. Anybody use this to 'correct' payroll numbers preemptively?

Very thoughtful thread. My short summary: for now we can continue trust the numbers from BLS. This because agency employees have the integrity to let the public know about potential interference. We might not be able to protect the process, but we will know when it is compromised.

With government statistics, it's pretty simple. If you liked the February, March, and April numbers, then you have to accept all the next ones, too. They are produced in the exact same way, it's what the computer spits out, based on the inputs provided. You do not get to cherry pick your stats.
