Oh interesting, people who don’t know how to build software are getting mad at my post about building software. Cute. Let me be clear, over the next year, the job of software engineer will shift dramatically to no longer have typing syntax into an editor as its primary time sink.

If your job was to know when to hit the semicolon key on the keyboard, I'm sad to say that's not an employable skill anymore. If you shape ideas into tools and art via code, it's really so much better than ever now, and I don't see that changing soon.

So let’s think about this. A private company refused - on principle - to yield to the government’s demands. The government then cancelled its contracts with the company and has set about destroying it

Yesterday I wrote a short piece about the radical joy in Alysa Liu's gold-medal-winning skate and Bad Bunny's Super Bowl show and how art and joy is a threat to authoritarians. It's resonated with a lot of folks, maybe also with you.

A reminder this happened earlier this week at Trump’s massive concentration camp in El Paso: “The cases of tuberculosis and COVID-19, two diseases that spread through the air, have underscored concern about the conditions at Camp East Montana and other immigration detention centers.“

Not to get political, but America is very pretty and has a lot of nice folks making cool things, and I think if we had a president who wasn’t actively trying to murder us, we could have a pretty good time

We all saw this. “We” === the demographics that are currently being attacked and oppressed now. Many dismissed us as over exaggerating or too sensitive. We were called too emotional and over reacting. Told to calm down. Told we were being bias. Some other demographics are waking up. Slowly.

Terrifying day. The downstream consequences could be scary too. Of the many reasons not to tweet gleefully about Kirk getting shot (also: it's morally wrong), a big one is you don't want to give these people any more ammo in their fight to shut down two-party competition in America
