I don't buy the AI narrative around prosperity for all. There is plenty of money to go around yet it tends to flow to the top. I can't imagine a world where those in control of AI, assuming it actually works, will resist charging an ever increasing subscription fee cementing the haves and have nots.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

I've heard of pay for play, but pay for pardon is new to me.

This was one of the best meetups I've ever spoken at. My talk was good, but the 2+ hours of Q/A was better. Thoughtful questions led to thoughtful answers, and it felt like the entire room was locked in the whole time.

We went from being asked to think different to not thinking at all.

I always love those lists of "35 under 35," but as I get older, I find that I would love to know about innovations/art from people over 65. "65 over 65" please. Elders have incredible ideas that are the result of having seen the full lifecycle of previous ideas and learned from it.

Do we have metrics on how often LLMs generate similar blocks of code across the industry? Most software being developed isn't unique, and it seems we'd be better served by new frameworks, and higher level abstractions. But then we're back to the discovery problem, something LLMs seem to help with.
