Still straining against the 2nd law of thermodynamics
You know that feeling when you're in the required anti-harassment training and then one of your coworkers asks a question and you realize you never want to be alone with him ever again? Yeah. Having that feeling a lot this week

My daughter wanted to call to talk about the guest chem lectures they had this week (her college is hiring) and she was so enthusiastic about the things they talked about... I am jealous! Maybe when I retire I will find a college that will let me audit classes

Timeline cleanse: Yesterday I was introduced to the teporingo (volcano rabbit) — it’s like a rabbit crossed with a pika and is only found on Popocatépetl and three of the other volcanoes near Mexico City:

It all would have been much easier if, as would have happened if we were remotely a serious country, it all ended with the Access Hollywood interview.

The crisis of elite impunity that is ruining our society cannot be more clearly or convincingly demonstrated than with the fact that all of these people wrote all this stuff into an email and hit Send.

Something the US needs to accept too is that without a large-scale correction imposing consequences on a large number of people, the crisis of governance here will continue indefinitely

For anyone who was sleeping, major political news last night: a judge chose a new map for Utah that will deliver a seat to Democrats. Major point in Dems’ favor that effectively neuters the GOP’s move in Missouri, much like California countered Texas.

I hope this is how it turns out I also think there's a slim chance we can scare our senators enough to get new leadership ahead of the January fight

No it’s important to listen to this. Because then you understand that many of them will do ANYTHING to keep power. Remember Musk got involved in the 2024 election after saying to Tucker “if she wins” I am definitely going to prison. So we need to move knowing that nothing is off the table for them.

worked with Lily Franklin in a long-shot state house race in rural VA -- no one thought it worth trying, but Lily did, & we had her back. She came within 183 votes of winning. She got back in the fight this year & just flipped the seat red to blue!!!!!!!
