Art vs Artist 2025...prob more to say (I'm still sick) but thank you for buying thousands of my comics so I had to print/assemble/digitally upload thousands of said comics and then got to use the resulting $ to pay my rent. 2025 was my first year fully financially supporting myself through my art.

Tried to update something real quick on my website and discovered the Wordpress gallery plugin I use had a big update and broke a bunch of stuff...it's con apps season so important people who will decide my financial fate are looking at it including all the non-public pages...and yes I'm still sick.

Underrated point of discussion with the AI + social media uproar is giving thanks to patrons of the arts, especially non-artists, who are willing to put in the effort to support artists at a time when it has never been easier or more normalized to do the opposite.

Also finally finished assembling the last copies of the first printing of the riso version of The Maker of Grave-Goods. Figuring out how to bind graphic novels by hand sure was a…thing…I did this year…for better or worse haha.

My bubble mailer supplier changed their sizes by .25 inch; necessitating me to update many of my saved package profiles in my shipping software

And with these the first edition of 500 is complete and I’m EXHAUSTED

Through a series of bizarre mishaps I missed my train to Boston last night, the train I was rebooked onto this morning broke down and was taken out of service, and then the second replacement train was late. God does NOT want me to go to Boston.

For graphic novels, especially adult genre fiction, it's incredibly helpful to review it online, talk about it, recommend it to a friend—adult fiction in the graphic novel space is difficult to place, and nothing convinces readers that they'll like a book more than the personal testimonial.

excited to see what this weirdly angled manta ray I drew at 1:30 AM, not sober, after having a panic attack; looks like in the cold light of day.

After doing all my little test prints I’m down to deciding between hunter green/violet/mint/UV on orchid and hunter green/violet/kelly green/UV on cream. The UV effect is stronger on the orchid paper but the ink leaves a visible mark on the darker papers that “spoils” its presence.
