The industry shouldn't be "Well I've got a job until launch, but who knows after." Making a game is stressful. Releasing one is full of stress and emotions I can't explain. Devs that feel stable/secure will make better games. You can't expect someone's all if they're always worried about layoffs.

I see comments online like, "Do you expect them to just keep paying people when there's not as much work to do and the game isn't selling a ton?" Sure do. Plan your development cycle, budget, and release so most of your studio isn't let go based on its immediate reception and sales.
