Precinct 10-1 NORTH WEDGE delivered so many votes for Jason Garcia for Park District 4 that it wiped out Jeannette Colby's entire margin in Ward 7 precincts. Garcia was +669 in 10-1. Colby was +631 in W7. Colby's advantage in W7 precincts was due entirely to 724 vote lead in Kenwood (83% vs 14%)

I'm confused about why "making a hard decision" would lead to better outcomes. I ranked Davis 1 and Fateh 2, which means my vote ultimately counted for Fateh. I'm under the impression that getting rid of RCV would just make the primary/endorsement process uglier. Am I missing something?

What I am saying is that a distressingly large chunk of the electorate was never going to be won over. For them, none of Frey’s failures and lies has been a dealbreaker, and wouldn’t be if we scrapped RCV. We have never reckoned with everything that led to George Floyd’s murder, and we still won’t

like we don't have to be stuck with first past the post or this, eg approval voting where you just mark all the ones you like is easy to explain and pretty good in terms of reflecting voter sentiment considering how simple it is the issue is getting people to be open to trying + cost of change

we have the instant runoff variant of rcv specifically, and it's not ideal there's loads of studies on how different voting methods make it easier or harder to reflect the will of voters in various ways, and while irv is an improvement over winner take all, it's worth considering the others

very disappointed to see michael wilson did not win for parks at large. he ran an incredible campaign and i thought he was the most exciting park board candidate with such passion and knowledge. did not expect this outcome

Friends, there is still so much we can accomplish together. I still believe in the power of us – and in the magic of what happens when we come together. There’s more in store for us yet.

I called Jacob Frey this afternoon to congratulate him, wish him well, and remind him that the residents of Minneapolis need him to show up better and differently given the challenges arrayed against us.

We can still build the city we deserve together – it’ll just look different than we hoped. We are still called to hold our leaders accountable, to support and protect our neighbors, and to live and work with integrity and care.

When I started this campaign, I made a commitment to myself and to the people of this city that I would run with the values we share: honesty, integrity, transparency and care. I’m proud of the campaign that we’ve run, and I’m so thankful everyone who has held me to those values.

We’re going to need each other more and more in the years to come and the connections you have with your neighbors and fellow Minneapolitans will make all the difference. Reach out for help when you need it, and lend a hand when you’re asked.

While we’re disappointed by the direction representation is going in our ward, we are very proud of the people-powered election and grassroots campaign that we ran, in coalition with so many leaders across Minneapolis.

I’m sad to deliver the news that we unfortunately did not win our campaign for re-election. I have called the new Council Member-elect and wished her well. My term will be ending at the end of December this year, and I plan to use the next two months to do as much as I can for Ward 7 residents.

Loring Park is great as a neighborhood. Cashman has been phenomenal as a council member, is super knowledgeable and approachable and really represents the community. I think both for renters, and for the business types near the lakes despite what they say. She takes a really balanced approach.
