The ferry to Iceland's Westman islands is electric. Carries over 500 passengers and dozens of vehicles on a 40 minute ride, recharging with barely an hour between voyages using a huge Ferry Charger connector

There're many one lane bridges on Iceland's main ring road, they are mostly cheap and low. Makes sense, traffic is low and you see remnants of old bridges damaged by glacial melt or volcanic activity. But I appreciate the audacity of a one lane suspension bridge, with a wooden deck and no signals!

I thought Iceland was half American only as a quirk of plate tectonics, but there are cultural similarities too. Basically what you'd expect from an island of viking breakaways who skipped the industrial revolution and settled into car-centric social democracy

I can't get over that Iceland has so much cool shit- glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls out the wazoo, and a huge tourism industry, and has less than the population of Minneapolis. It's as dense as North Dakota and half its size
