We are really concerned by Seema Malhotra's statement to the commons that: "Most people have the common sense to step in when necessary, for example when a person of the opposite biological sex enters a single sex facility in error - and when to alert a member of staff."

There are several trans research groups covering what's happened over the last decade in terms of attacking trans rights in the UK and they don't seem to appear to be sources amnesty have taken interest in.

So the EHRC guidance has been updated from "Fuck trans people's rights" to "I'm terribly sorry but fuck trans people's rights", and it remains glaringly obvious that the government's response to the Supreme Court judgement should have been to fix the law rather than cower in fear of bigots.

It is hard to overstate the egregiousness of this failure. The body whose statutory duty is to protect the human rights of, and prevent discrimination against, trans people has published exclusionary rules for trans people under the aegis of a government run by the party which created those duties.

The queer community is angry. I hope the EHRC, the government, and the transphobic bigots who have brought this about are ready for our rage.

I need to properly read and reflect on the EHRC Code, but on a quick glance: (1) yuck (2) it is really unpleasant how much some gender critical people are absolutely *revelling* in the fact that trans people feel terrified because of this (whatever the Code will mean in practice).

Being trans is not a medical condition nor is it an unwanted life outcome to be guarded against, it is a healthy way that many people choose to express themselves.

It’s absurd for this Government’s proposed guidance to suggest that schools need to seek clinical advice if a young person wants to change their name, uniform or hairstyle.
