We go to Brighton to leave Alice flowers several times a year. Her birthday, the anniversary of her death, Christmas. This year was particularly hard. Her name almost completely worn away. I can’t bear the thought of it disappearing, but going back is getting harder not easier.

Thinking about my mate Pants today, named that because his surname was Dunham (in his pants). Clearly remember being in the pub the night someone came up with that. Pants wasn’t even there. You never know when life is going to ambush you with something that sticks forever. Pants is in his 50s now.

“media literacy shouldn’t just be a side topic but treated as civic infrastructure”. The teaching of it a type of “psychological inoculation”. In Finland journalists impart this wisdom. Can’t see this working in the UK when so much of our media relies on its ability to misinform ignorant people.

At Alice's inquest a coroner ruled that delays in accessing gender affirming care (GAC) contributed to Alice's preventable death. A CAMHS nurse said CAMHS couldn't help because what Alice needed was GAC. The Tavi said they weren't responsible for her MH whilst she sat on their decades long waitlist.

I was taught to comment on people’s appearance and demeanour as part of a psychiatric assessment because it could give insight into state of mind. This is next level weird and unpleasant.

💯 This must be the norm not the exception. Parents tend to work quietly behind the scenes to support their child. Alice’s death released me from that dynamic. Going public with her inquest, then Her Name Is Alice, was a choice. It came with personal cost but not doing it felt more uncomfortable.

Royal College of Nursing- Education on discrimination. I used Dr Upton’s case to explain how gender critical organisations target NHS trusts. It was amazing to meet other transgender healthcare professionals.

I recall reading about this in some or other feed, weeks and weeks ago and then I never saw anything about it again, so I began to think I’d imagined it.

When people talk about Auntie Beeb with misty eyed fondness, the lilting tones of Wogan echoing in their heads, I want them to consider this - my aunt told my mother not to believe my allegations about an uncle sexually molesting me. Little girls make things up, she said. The BBC is that auntie.

More research showing a thing the GC movement wishes to deny trans people, in this case respecting their name and pronouns, is a thing that improves mental health and could prevent a death by suicide, yet still they persist.
