Small addendum. Most trans stories Ground has also get put under the LGBTQ+ tab. This one on a mass shooting does not show up there. Meaning that for some reason a mass shooting was given a transgender tag even though it doesn't appear to feature in any linked story, w/ no LGBTQ+ linkage either.

As noted down the thread, this is not my only concern with Ground's handling of trans news and sources. They at least have a tag, and are collecting some useful info. I discovered a lot of new info through them. Still, room for improvement and all that.

Going to post over here that this shooting was, once again, senseless, like pretty much every other shooting. Numerous people died, many more injured, and the trauma felt by everyone there will be lasting. People need safety, a place to live without violence.

News should drop by tomorrow - another major center for trans health will no longer provide blockers or hormones for those under 19, due to funding threats from the Trump administration that would have resulted in closure.

His excuse here is "it would cost more money for premiums." I'm not sure that washes, given the size of the populations that use hrt for transition or PrEP. Especially given that he seems to also use the current shutdown and its cause as a pretext.

I am looking at papers from around 2013-2018 on GAC. These accusations were already being made by then. Presumably because the model of treating all gender non conforming kids as trans until the majority "desisted" was still in use by many. The papers show how this was misguided. IN 2013.

It's funny because I'm reading research on the affirming approach (esp for trans youth) from the early 2010s, based itself on research from the 00s and earlier. Science progressed. Some people, it seems, did not, and want the world to wind back to please them.

This is indeed the slide I hear all the time. In the end the only birth control they consider real winds up being a version of the rhythm method (that they claim totally isn't). Everything else is somehow abortion. And I am including condoms here.

I've not done this exact kind of research, but typically when using human research data, you often anonymize it, but also retain it for many years in case results are questioned. This seems to have taken advantage of this very important safeguard. This is a massive ethical breach if true.
