Two days ago, it is very probable that leaders in both India and Pakistan didn't want things to get to this point, even as they wanted to pursue their political goals against the other. The thing about escalation is that it has a logic independent of what the players involved often want.

Another threshold of escalation crumbles: India apparently has started air operations inside Pakistan. (This was the suggestion with the SEAD strikes yesterday.)

In 2019, the Indian Air Force carried out one strike against one target with its aircraft entering mainland (undisputed) Pakistani airspace, marking the first time one nuclear-armed state had deliberately used airpower against another. This appears to be of a substantially greater scale.

Based on what I've seen credibly reported over the last 2-3 hours, it is fair to now call this a full-scale war.
