If you don’t understand and oppose ableism, you can’t effectively understand or oppose fascism, racism, transphobia, genocide, sexism, child abuse, ageism, classism, capitalism, etc.

An excellent article that really outlines how vulnerability abd mistrust in the medical establishment, which is so valid, can lead people into the arms of anti-vax "wellness" grifters who take advantage of them just wanting to do right for their children.

The lack of mainstream coverage of regular huge protests reminds me of a talk from a Twitter employees who explained that they had to drop BLM off the Trending Tags section because otherwise it would have been there permanently. The modern media environment has no appetite for sustained movements.

A politic grounded in disability justice prepares you for all of this and more. Ableism & its manifestations (eugenics, racism, necropolitics, transphobia, &c) are the root of all the evils we face. There’s no preparing, resisting, or liberation without disability justice & disabled people.

Seems like a good weekend to find one nice thing to do for others, and one nice thing to do for yourself. Rest up if you can. Mask up if you’re in a crowd. Watch some birds. Fix something with your hands. Look at something beautiful for a while.

reiterating again: helping palestinian survival funds *is* disability justice. every single person living under siege there is coping with traumatic stress. everyone's immune systems are weak from starvation and crowded, unsanitary living conditions. everyone has painful, untreated wounds.

Do people not realize what sorts of incentives they set up for politicians when they say "I'll vote for you no matter what your policies are!"? All that does is tell them that yes, they can adopt the worst policies.

Specifically booksellers. However, as a former bookseller, I know how awkward it is when an indie author comes into a bookstore they've never visited before promoting their book and ostensibly asking them to stock it. Any tips for how to go about this respectfully?

Question for fellow writers: I have two books coming out this year and next Spring (details TBA). While I know how to promote them with the bookstores and spaces I have been in community with in Texas and some other regions, I am now traveling full-time and want to make contacts with new folks.
