Was talking to a journo yesterday who told me that most Chicagoans don’t really have the capacity to understand what’s happening w/ the budget (or simply don’t care fr). Like…do journalists really think people are stupid? And is it not their job to break it down for folks? I’m so bothered.

Chicago’s City Council is fighting over a very small portion of the city’s budget because a majority of alders do not want to implement a corporate head tax on corporations that have over 500 employees, despite the city running a deficit otherwise (according to the budget office’s analysis). 🧵
