Parallel construction is when local cops get tips about drugs or whatever and carefully “construct” a pretense to come across a person and search them. The construction is done alongside (parallel) to a tip that comes from the Feds. It’s also like, you know, illegal under the 4th Amendment.

ICE is using Clearview AI, the controversial facial recognition tool that Illinois law enforcement is barred from using. There’s apparently few guardrails. A DHS face recognition policy was wiped from the internet in February. Other pages were archived or disappeared tinyurl.com/yc64wcvh
