Working analogy: I personally lived through the days when smoking was everywhere in this country. Everybody doing something awful doesn’t make it a good idea or mean it will go on forever. So, I’m coming for driving everywhere like the ACS came for smoking and I’m really just getting started.

Getting involved in advocacy against car dependency has radicalized me on a wide range of issues. So it really grinds my gears when people sneer and say, "Don't you get it, you can't bike everywhere?" as if I haven't spent years understanding the fucked up systems at play in this country.

It is absolutely wild that instead of using their platform to tell drivers to get off their cell phones and operate their multi-ton vehicles at safe speeds, our local police department is putting out PSAs demanding you get out of the way so people can break the law more efficiently.

If you are an old rich actor who wants to give back then you should contact your local Habitat for Humanity chapter and give them one million dollars plus as much of your time as they can make use of.

As someone with the predecessor to the Via Pro, the Via Pro really fixed all the issues I have with my model. Certainly worthwhile. I bet they are retiring their e-cargo bikes with all the tariff problems. It's a shame.

Busse Road and Northwest Highway literally parallel UP-NW from Jeff Park to Cary. Pull a Pace 213 and run a bus the length of the route, even if just out to Des Plaines. I also think a Barrington to Des Plaines bus could work. There are so many in-between stops that aren't served by transit.

Not running bus substitution for scheduled track work AND telling people to drive to far away lines AND not evening mentioning existing bus service (Pace, etc.) is pretty insane and I hope NITA kills this part of Chicagoland transit agency culture.
