CTA & CDOT just took a major step toward Ventra + Divvy integration 🚲🚍 Later this month, 30-day CTA/Pace pass riders on Ventra will be eligible for a $5 Divvy credit (limited to 20K; excludes annual members). More to come!

A big chunk of CTA's reported ridership gain in 2025 comes from a retroactively applied change in methodology fare evasion estimates, especially on the south side Red and Green lines.

CTA Rail operator headcount took a dive in February after holding steady at or above the 2019 benchmark for the last 6 months. Bus Ops had a down month too, but are still over 10% higher than 2019 figures.

First batch of CTA Smart Streets data for 2026. $343k through the end of Feb, around double 2025's pace. Expanded pilot zone has added a lot of bike lane and expired meter ticketing along Clark, Halsted, and Lincoln on the north side.

CTA rail service looked much more stable in Feb. Brown line fully out of it's slump. Have any Purple line frequenters noticed a slight bump in service? The average has been hovering at or above fall levels for a solid 2 months now.

In the gov's State of the State speech, he championed a "missing middle" zoning reform bill that would legalize at least two units on any 2500+ sqft parcel allowing single-family homes. By my calculation, that'd increase the by-right zoning capacity in Chicago by at least 775,000 units. Some notes:

San Diego is the first large U.S. Metro Area to regain 90% of their 2019 transit ridership across all modes! Large sunbelt metros (except Atlanta) have seen strong recoveries. NYC still leads the Northeast, but D.C. is not far behind after taking another big leap this year.

The low-assist mode E-divvys are fantastic. I’d take this over a classic or paying for full e-assist. A little slow to get up to speed but I can sustain 14-15mph with minimal effort once I’m moving. I wish it was available every time.
