And now they’re doing this shit entirely outside their jurisdiction too. CPD has streets shut down in Franklin Park apparently and it’s had Metra trains delayed for a good 30 minutes now.

Remember this next time you hit a pothole on your bike or see an unhoused person having a mental health crisis on the blue line. This is what the city has money for, not anything that actually improves lives.

We honor people in public service because we value doing things that benefit regular ol' civilians just trying to live our lives. I think some dissonance arises when it feels like we honor service in a way that dishonors the public. Inevitably that dishonor breeds resentment and contempt.

Federal agents detained someone at the bus stop at grand and central. This is why some of us have taken interest in examining the intersection of transit and immigration enforcement. We can see how some residents no longer feel safe waiting for a bus.

On March 17, the city evicted 20 unhoused Chicagoans from their tent homes in the freezing cold in Legion Park. Lots has been written about the encampment's closure, but the story of the fight to stop the sweep has been largely untold, until now.

Only a couple miles from here Damian Gomez was killed by a driver just last month. Maligning those who want physical change in our streets to prevent these tragedies as “activists” while deeming drivers as “Chicagoans” is the kind of callous brain rot that one expects from the Trib Editorial Board.
